No one can guarantee top placement on all search engines for all
possible search terms. The trick, then, is to anticipate the
most likely search terms users will try, and optimize as many search
engines for the search phrases most likely to be used. Because
other sites are constantly fighting to replace your position, the
battle to stay on top is never ending. Search engines
routinely change their techniques and algorithms, and we invest a
lot of time keeping up with at least the major ones. Research
shows that a user looking for a specific phrase (say "colognes,
after shave lotions") is very likely to be a serious
buyer. It is our job to make sure that we get our fair share
of these serious prospects. And they are not likely to find your site unless you
place in the top 20 of their search.Shown below are sample screen shots of top placements at some of
the most widely used search engines. We have printouts of
hundreds of other "successes" just like them. What's
nice about the Internet (as you can see from some of the samples
below), is that it levels the playing field.
Small companies can outrank much bigger ones, resulting in sales
they would not have been able to compete for in other media.
